Documenting the cultural Heritage of Suai-Camenaca

One of the main researches Timor Aid conducted in 2014 through to 2015 was the cultural heritage of the Suai-Camenaça, in Covalima district in Timor-Leste. The research was supported by the Cultural Emergency Response Programme of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development to document the rich tradition of the communities that are about to be relocated to make way for national industrial infrastructure.


This exhibition is the continuation of a previous exhibition held in Melbourne, Australia in partnership with the Friends of Suai, City of Port Phillip to showcase the results of the research done in Covalima and the richness of their heritage.The exhibition was supported by the Cultural Emergency Response Programme of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development, Secretary of Estate for Tourism, Art and Culture (SETAC) and Office of Prime Minister through the Unit of Civil Society Support (UASC).

5 Social geography and archaeology
