Engineering projects completed
28/09/01 (UN PKF) Engineers reported that for the past week they were able to complete the erection of barbed wire fence and the repair of gaps in the perimeter fence of Dili heliport thereby enhancing further the security around the mission's air assets.


Peace keepers soaring high with civil military activities
28/09/01 (UN PKF) The Peace Keeping Force is soaring high with its Civil Military Activities nationwide. PKF accounted a total of 5,598 medical assistance among the local populace since the start of September.

Situation in East Timor remains calm
28/09/01 (UN PKF) The situation in East Timor especially along the TCL remains calm and peaceful, the United Nations Military Observer Group (UNMOG) reported Saturday to Lieutenant General Winai Phattiyakul during the weekly briefing at the Peace Keeping Force Headquarters.

17/09/01 (ROK Batt) Republic of Korea Battalion Commander COL. Jeong Ha Lee and his Unit deployed to East Timor on April 20th, 2001. On September 13th, 2001, they received UN medals for their peace keeping activities in East Timor. + photos

Fatal PKF Vehicle Accident
11/09/0 (UN PKF) At approximately 10.45 am yesterday, a truck carrying Fijian soldiers from the New Zealand Battalion overturned 3 kilometers east of Taroman in East Timor. One soldier was killed and 11 other Fijian soldiers sustained a variety of injuries.

28/09/01 (SMH) United Nations prosecutors in East Timor yesterday filed the first indictments for "extermination" against nine anti-independence militiamen and two Indonesian soldiers for crimes committed after the territory voted for independence from Indonesia in 1999, officials said.
