Lopes da Silva Federer |
East Timorese, highly active and
committed to the well being of the East Timorese people. She
enjoys great respect among them. Has worked in relief programs in
the early war years, and keeps well informed about the current
needs of the people. In addition to her work for Timor Aid, Maria
do Ceu is involved in a number of other initiatives to advance the
East Timor cause. She has a special interest in the advancement of
women. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Bahasa Indonesia,
Tetum and French.

Dr Juan Federer |
Long
term involvement with Timor and neighbouring islands since the
early 1970’s. Developed
a leading traditional textile production facility in Flores in the
1970’s, and initiated health aid projects on that island. Fluent
in several European languages (including Portuguese) and Bahasa
Indonesia. Academic background and higher degrees in Economics,
International Relations, plus qualifications and experience in
General Management. For many years, as Director General for
International Relations of CNRM and Executive Director of the East
Timor International Support Center (ETISC), actively involved in
international advocacy for the self-determination of the people of
East Timor, working closely with Dr José Ramos Horta.

Reverend Arlindo
Marçal |
Head of the Synod of East Timorese Protestant
Churches. Indonesian-educated, widely travelled abroad, including
for post-graduate studies. Deeply committed to the freedom of his
people, he courageously called for the recognition of the
independence of his church in the World Council of Churches, which
he successfully achieved. Also involved in his Church’s aid organization
Yayasan Naroman, a Timor Aid partner.

José Lobato Gonçalves |
A
widely read and well educated member of the new generation of East
Timorese. Graduate in Information Technology from Jakarta’s top
university, currently undertaking the first part of a Master’s
Degree in Business at Darwin in Australia, where he also teaches
the East Timorese Tetum language. Fluent in English, Portuguese
and Bahasa Indonesia. He is the son of East Timor’s chief
Independence hero, and former National President Nicolau Lobato.

Bryant George |
Senior Technical Adviser at Counterpart
International in Washington, member of the organisation’s Senior
Management Team and Treasurer of the Board. As a former USAID
staff member, Dr George has had a distinguished career in
international aid, w orked 12
years with the Ford Foundation, 17 years with USAID/Dept. of
State, living in Asia 15 years. Member of 10
not for profit Boards of Directors in the US.

celebrity known world-wide for his outstanding achievements as a
key figure in the East Timorese struggle for self-determination

Goa-born Catholic Missionary serving in East
Timor since 1947. Treasurer of the Dili Diocese. Has made an
outstanding contribution to education through the building of good
quality parish schools and the first adult education facility in
East Timor. Also built and operated several well-run parish health
clinics. A very competent administrator with deep knowledge and
insights into the development needs of the country.
