Profiles of current staff

Roberto Gabriel Leto Mau, Program Manager

RobertoRoberto works for Timor Aid for six years now, starting in April 2004 as a project officer for a civic education program. In this program, he developed civic education references for pre-secondary and secondary school across Timor Leste. An important success he made was working with the Ministry of Education to organize two national congresses on the development of civic education reference materials for the schools.
In 2005 when the project concluded, Roberto worked on a world citizen project. During the emergency period between 2006 and 2007, Roberto led Timor Aid’s work on the NGO Emergency Support Program across Timor Leste.
Today, Roberto is a project manager overseeing Timor Aid’s sustainable village project in the Manufahi district.
Roberto shares us his dream to be a politician in the future, perhaps the Minister of Agriculture – good luck to you Roberto!

Alvaro da Silva, Project Coordinator, Civic Education

Alvaro

Alvaro has been working on civic education programs at Timor Aid since 2004. His first work trip with Timor Aid didn’t get off to the best start when the ferry for Oecusse turned back to Dili after only five minutes. But since then, Alvaro has travelled to many parts of Timor with Timor Aid, working on projects to help promote awareness and involvement in civic society including facilitating a youth parliament, a communications campaign on suco councils, developing civic education curriculum materials and training and study tours for youth.

Alvaro enjoys getting to manage projects and be involved in the decision making at Timor Aid. He is currently also studying law at UNPAS and hopes his study will help him contribute to Timorese society further in the future. Prior to working at Timor Aid, Alvaro worked at the Commission for Truth and Reconciliation.
