Working to prevent Malaria
Timor Aid is currently delivering education to communities to prevent the spread of malaria, which is endemic in Timor.
Timor Aid, with support from Global Fund, is working to reduce the prevalence and impact of malaria and consequent maternal and child death in Manufahi and Oecusse.
From March 2010 to April 2011, Timor Aid will train 431 community health volunteers and 72 Women Suco Council Representatives in malaria and other health-related issues. These representatives will then work with local authorities and stakeholders to implement a set of community health activities and events and provide the community with health education materials. The project is estimated to reach over 30,000 community members.
